I virtually never wear dresses anymore, not even to church because ours is very casual.
I feel like I did my time; I wore a dress or a skirt every Sunday (a.m and p.m) and Wednesday night when I was growing up. My mom had strong ideas about what it meant to be the preacher's family.
But we are driving to Canada next week for my brother's wedding, and I needed something to wear, so I hit Kohl's. I'm not easy to fit because I'm very petite, so I was quite happy when I found two possibilities, and they were under $20 each!
I'm going to return one of them, since they are similar in color and I really don't need two.
You can help me decide which one to keep!
Things you need to know:
I cannot wear anything remotely resembling a heel
Yes, this is as "tan" as I will ever be
My nine year old took the photos, so...
Option 1
Option 2
(it's hard to tell in this photo, but it also has turquoise in it)
Honestly, these pictures pretty much confirmed my suspicion that Opt. 1 looks better, but I'd still be interested in your opinions. The only thing I don't like about #1 is that more of my very white and somewhat spider-veiny legs show.
Now, about the shoes. With the first dress I'm wearing black peep-toes that I think might look too much like slippers. With the second dress I'm wearing a black patent ballet flat.
As I mentioned, heels are out, but I might possibly be able to swing a low wedge. Target had a couple of options online; whether or not I'd be able to find them in my size in the store is another thing.
I also thought these were cute, but I'm not sure if they're wedding appropriate.
So, which dress?
And what is your opinion about the shoes? Is a low wedge any better than a flat? Do you like either of the above wedges? Is the turquoise flip-flop too casual?
Or should I just stay with my black flats, and if so which ones?

Pretty! I like the 1st dress with the #2 all black wedge sandal. =)
I think the first dress is a more flattering cut, and it is really pretty! I like shoes that are all one color, so I'm probably biased when I say the all black wedges :)
First dress, black wedge sandal.
I vote for the first dress with the black wedge heel shown in the pictures on the left.
The blue dress and the all-black wedges. The other shoes look too casual.
First dress - you even look happier in it. You can also splurge on some Jergens natural glow self tanner. I use it and it really works in a low key way. Just a little bit each day until you think you are glowy enough!
Dress #1, the all black wedges and some Jergens or Nutrigena self tan cream. I am pale. Pale enough to make you look a dark coco brown and have used both of these with good results. ;)
the first one, and the wedge sandals. I like the length of that one and it has more color. Have a good time at the wedding!
I like the second dress b/c of the length but the turquoise one is a lovely color on you too. I can never do heels either! I hate them & fight tooth & nail anytime I'm "required" to wear them. Haha!
The cut and the length of the first dress are much, much better for you! I'd go with those low black wedges on the right. Maybe also wear your hair up and wear some dangly earrings--they don't have to be huge, but black to match the necklace would be cute.
First dress with the all black wedge. Have you considered going to get a spray tan for the wedding? I have a very fair friend like you who just did it for a wedding and it looks great. Not overdone at all (got it done across from Trader Joe's on Clarkson somewhere near the Chipotle).
Dress #1. Black wedge shoe!
By the way, I'm hoping and looking forward to meeting you in real life next week :)
The first dress for sure! And some kind of black strappy sandal. What about Target's "Merona Erina Thong Flat Sandal" (in black or white) or the "Merona Eunice Comfort Sandal". I can't figure out how to throw a link in my comment without it filling up the page! (I have the Erina & can say it is a very comfy shoe - I've got the same flat shoe needs!)
I'm gonna swim against the tide here...I like the colors of the first dress, but the length and armholes of the 2nd dress say wedding to me...plus, a low wedge sandal with them would be very nice...for shoes check out Payless. I hadn't shopped them since high school, but recently they had a BOGO 1/2 off deal and I found some really cute wedge sandals. (:
definitely first dress with color. definitely black wedge shoes. no turquoise, except maybe in accessories if you felt so inclined. good luck with your decision!
The first dress looks really cute on you, Holly. The cut around the shoulders works really well with your petite figure. Plus the shorter length isn't overwhelming for you height. That's my pick. I like both of the black wedges, but I think I like the one on the left a little better.
Can't wait to see which you pick.
Hi ~ 1st dress ~ definitely a pair of wedge heels ~ the second ones would look nice together with the dress. Have fun ~ you look beautiful!
Definately the first dress and wear dressier all black (as high as you can handle) wedges. And if you go for the spray tan would you be confident enough with your legs to shorten the dress to just above the knee? I think that would be great for a summer wedding!
I much prefer number one. I think the colour looks really good against your English Roses skin!!! I have pale skin too!!
And I think a low wedge would look fantastic!! I am in love with wedge heels.
I bet you'll look GORGEOUS!!

I like the first dress with the black wedge.

I have such distinct memories of putting on a dress for Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night services! Our mothers must have learned about appropriate attire from the same teachers. :)
I like the first dress, and I say definitely go for the wedges. I like the all-black ones best. But now I'm curious. . . I thought I was the only one who couldn't wear heels. Is it because of your feet, or is there another reason? Or is that too personal a question to ask? My feet are awful--I have very high arches, and wearing heels is excruciating, because all my weight ends up on the balls of my feet. (My chiropractor helps by adjusting my feet occasionally, but that's the one adjustment that hurts.) Anyway, I do like the look of heels, so I am a real fan of wedges. I have some Aerosoles wedge sandals that are so comfortable I can wear them for hours.
Of course dress one! How about nude flats? I think they are more versatile than black right now...I do like the black wedge sandals though :)
option 1 with a black wedge!
Dress number one but I am partial to the cork wedge!
I think the first dress is great on you. It would look good with the black wedge.

Hey girl....
My vote is for the first dress and the wedge sandal....
If this is an afternoon wedding, then go for the sandal... In our area, the thing to wear for an afternoon wedding would be a cute summer dress and blingy flip flops...
I know you will look great!
