A couple of weeks ago, I confessed to you some of the reality at my house. One of those things was this plant.
Shortly thereafter, I cleaned it up, and I believe it will make a full recovery.
The plant sits on the little landing halfway up the stairs, so I see it every single time I go up or down. Today, I suddenly noticed as if for the first time, this:
Yuck! I must have the plastic saucer, or all that would be on my carpet, but gross!
Solution, a bag of rocks I got at Dollar Tree some time ago for a different purpose. Better!
Cheap and easy, that’s my style! (No, not in that way!)

It really looks much better, but do you think the plant will survive? It's color is good, It seems to be well hydrated, in a warm and loving environment, plant seems to have a good attitude, temperature? We can only wait and see!
Great tip!!! Those little rocks totally transformed your plant's "look." :)
Very nice! I knocked over my spider plant while moving furniture the other day- it totally needs repotting. Not my favorite job!
I used the same bag 'o rocks the other day in the bottom of a vase to keep some roses standing tall ('cuz I'm challenged in the floral arranging area!) worked like a charm!
Very cool. I love the look the rocks give to the planter.

YIPPEE!! It lives!! Nice trick with the rocks!
Great idea! Your plant may need more sun or at least a lot of bright light.
Isn't it funny how we can see something every day and we just gloss over it - or it doesn't phase us? I have a few situations like that in my home. Namely some uncovered light switches. And it's been like that for two years. Wow. I'm hoping your plant makes it!
Amazing! What a simple fix. Looks great!
Love it! I'm gonna buy some Dollar Tree rocks myself! :) Thanks for the inspiration!
The plant looks much better and i like the rock idea!

Amazing how such a little change can make such a big difference.

Great tip...I am a plant failure....but I like that suggestion.
Whew! Glad you didn't mean in THAT way! :) Those stones make all the difference!
Hey that's a perfect solution! I have a love hate relationship with houseplants too... I love them (and then hate when I kill them!) I hate dusting the fake ones so we're sans foliage in my casa. :) I've resolved that I have a black thumb. LOL
The rocks look great! I thought it might look good to fill in around the top of the pot with some moss (maybe??)
Great idea!!! IT ROCKS (pun intended).
I love your blog! How you manage to leave comments on other pages with almost 700 followers is beyond me! So impressive!
Love the rocks idea! So clever!
The rocks do look great, and what a terrific way to camouflage the icky residue. I have a floor plant with the same kind of plastic tray, but it's hidden behind something else.
Thanks, too, for reminding me to water the plant that's been drooping for three days!
