Five Dollar Challenge

Living with Lindsay is hosting a Five Dollar Challenge today. The rules are that everything must come from the Dollar Tree or other dollar store. She began promoting it several weeks ago, giving us plenty of time to come up with our creations.

I must admit, I had a harder time with this than I would have thought. I had seen an arrangement in the Pottery Barn store and thought I could recreate that. The problem was, once that was stuck in my head, I couldn’t get around it to see anything else creatively.

Here’s the finished product, and the run-down.

  • two glass containers $2
  • river rock $1
  • fake flowers $1
  • easter egg picks (taken off the pick) $1

I already had the moss in my craft drawer from a previous project.

I have them on my mantel, alongside my remade Dollar Tree birds from last week.

Well, it’s not earth-shattering, but a nice little touch for my springtime decor. It'll be fun to see what everybody else came up with!

Looks great! Definitely not like it came from Dollar Tree! Good idea - I always steal ideas from PB!

I was looking for Easter eggs at the DT. I never thought of taking them off the picks. Very clever!

It looks great. Definitely not like it came from the dollar store. I have been seeing Easter egg wreaths every where this year and thought they were so cute. I attempted to gather the materials to recreate one but, I was unsuccessful. I realized I would end up spending just as much or more than if I just bought one so I am going to wait until Spring things go on clearance and see if I can get one. I also got some Easter eggs from the dollar store this year, but the ones I found just aren't as nice as those ones you've got.

They look so perfect with your birdies. No one would know this stuff came from the dollar store.

Very nice job Holly. Love your creation. Isn't it amazing what can be done with $5.00? Amy :)

Love it! Great job with the $5. I may have to go back and look for those birds, that would only be my 3rd trip to the Dollar Tree in as many days! That's okay, right?

My matching bird friend, After you start spray painting you start imagining how you would paint everything you see! Has it been that way for you? Your display looks great.
