Thrift Store Roundup

I’ve been thinking that I may start a (perhaps) weekly series on my thrift store finds. I usually pop in several times a week, and it would be fun to show off my goodies. It’s always possible as well that it will show me that I’m spending way more than I think on my “bargains” and nickel-and-diming us to death! In which case the series would have to end.

I’ll probably move it to Thursdays—Thrift Store Thursdays—but for now I’ll start here, and today I’m going to join Julia’s Hooked on Fridays, because clearly I have an addiction!

I already mentioned in yesterday’s post how on Monday I got the exact frames I wanted for my bathroom project at my favorite thrift store: $6.

That same day I found this Ralph Lauren purse for $1.50. I had been on the lookout for a new summery bag, and this was perfect.

Tuesday I met with Dixie to do a couple things and of course we ran into Goodwill. I got the cute little cheese dome for $2, but discarded the wooden plate it came with (actually, Firstborn took it to do who knows what with it).

Wednesday I went to a different GW and found the little saucer-sized glass plate to go under the dome: $1. The frame was also $1.

And these lovelies? Wedgwood. Made in England. Three salad plates at $1 each. I had seen these several times in the last month, along with some dinner plates and I think a few more salad plates. I refrained from buying the whole (incomplete) set, but when I saw these three sitting alone, I rescued them.

Other purchases not shown:

  • a lemon to add to my apothecary jar of lemons, $.50.
  • an Avon bunny-motif trinket dish from the ’80s which will go in P’s Easter basket, $1.10. My sister gave me the matching piece when I was about 12, and P has it now.
  • a book that Dixie’s hubby needs for our small group study, $1

Total for the week: $17.10. Well, I can already see that totaling it up will be a bit of a surprise!

Be sure to see what everybody else is Hooked On!

And that purse! It looks brand new!

We have a monthly 'antique' show in Atlanta, and your find rival anything I have seen at this show - but the prices you got are a very small fraction of what you would pay at the antique show!

I also love thrift stores!!

LOVE that purse, what a great find!

Also, you should spray paint the wooden piece that goes to the cheese thingy. If you paint it black, it looks really good. You don't have to use it with that, but you can use it as a base for other things. I saw that on the blog, Joys of Home {I think}. She bought wooden salad bowls and did that.

Great finds! Many of my family members go thrift store shopping on a weekly basis and they are always coming home with great stuff.

The deals on the kids clothes are especially good - usually $1 per piece!

And then the kids always love to go too because they usually have big grab-bags of toys for 25 cents.

My fiance always comes home with great looking jeans for about 2 bucks.

Thanks,
Jason

Wow - you found some great things...thanks for sharing! Seems like I always have to go to the farthest GW away from where I live to find the nicer things so I don't go thrifting there as often as I'd like.

Enjoy your weekend!

There are not many thrifting opportunities where I live, so I think that Thrifting Thursdays are a great idea, and I can live vicariously through you! I love the little cheese dome. I would put a tiny bird's nest & eggs in there, or maybe some moss, a twig & a butterfly. Or maybe just cheese.

Great finds! I love the purse, and the cheese dome. I've been planning to go look for a cheese dome myself. I had an old one that got broke, and I figure the thrift store is the best place to go and find a replacement.

I have been reading yours and nesters blog for awhile now, so this morning I got inspired to load my kids up and go to my local thrift stores. What a bust. I must live in an oppressed area because I did not find anything. I actually did see a set of three candle spindles for $8.00 but I thought that was a little high. Are you allowed to wheel and deal at the animal league thrift store? Then I come home and see your blog, I am just a little green with envy right now. Enjoy your finds.

How cool! I'm never ventured into a GW, but you might just persuade me after all!

Isn't it surprising how those little one and two dollar "finds" actually add up to real money? But just think what buying those things NEW would have cost you! Why, you couldn't even have bought one Wedgwood plate for 17-dollars!

I love your Thrift Thursday idea!

I may need some more things here ...
