Do You craigslist?

I’m joining Hooked on Fridays today because I’m hooked on craigslist.

I’ve spent a lot of time talking about my thrift store purchases on this blog. You know I love to find a great bargain or unexpected treasure. But what if you’re looking for something specific?

Craigslist is a great place to start. I have found several things that I was intentionally looking for, as well as a few that I just stumbled upon while browsing.

This old 46” square window was $20, and exactly what I was looking for to add interest to my big plain window.blog 004

My sectional couch was a steal at $260.IMG_2616

We got our down-filled, slip-covered couch last summer for $200, and it was just what I was looking for.IMG_2555

My china cabinet was an accidental find for $35!IMG_2611

Before we moved into this house, I did a lot of shopping on craigslist; I found this console table for $50 and the big mirror for $25. IMG_1082

I also found a black side-by-side refrigerator for $500, with three years left on the extended service contract the original owners had purchased. We had to use it for a repair right away, because after being stored in their garage over the winter it had developed a leak.

Are you looking for something specific? How about something that you could paint or repurpose? Lots of times the older furniture is solid wood and way better quality than you could get brand-new for a comparable price.

How about this buffet for $65, maybe painted white? Rats, I don’t have any room for it.buffet

Look at this cool antique secretary, listed for $100.secretary

Somebody is selling this antique table for $59! Again, I'm thinking paint or maybe just restaining the top.table

There are bargains to be had out there; you just have to look!

Wow, those are some good deals. I have to confess, I've never looked at Craigslist -- maybe I'll have to give it a try. Am missing TST, I have to admit! xo

Holy Cow!!! $35 for a china cabinet, you are sooo lucky! I love CraigsList, I've bout tons of furniture on their site, and I've sold some stuff too :)

Wow, love the CL finds! Esp your $200 sofa and $35 china cab. When I get on CL I spend a lot of time looking at things.

My Aldi normally has their flowers for $3.99 too but evidently they had a sale going on Monday! I have found that our Aldi discounts a lot of things on Mondays (YAY). :)

I LOVE Craigslist, too. I recently bought an armoire on there for my office....except it was too big to get into my office. OOPS...so now it's in the master bedroom and I LOVE it there!!! I wish i had more room for craigslist finds!!

Wow! We don't have much of interest listed in our Craigslist....Maybe I should look more often though. :) Did you have to clean your couches or anything after you bought them??

I have looked at Craigslist before but haven't bought from there yet. I will have to keep looking. You got some great deals!

Great finds!!! You have gotten some really wonderful things! I'm trying to think what we have gotten on Craigs List. Hmmm---we got our doggie off of Craigslist. He had an adoption fee, but it was reasonable and he was potty trained, had been to the vet recently for his rabies and other shots and another procedure ; ), so he was perfect for our family.

I've gotten some homeschooling books and my hubby's recliner. I found it and liked the look but it was downtown in a high rise and I didn't feel comfortable going there by myself. He went and tried it out and brought it home. It doesn't look like a recliner and has a 50's vibe. I'll have to post about it sometime.

We have sold a few things too, but I'm a little nervous about people coming to my house. So far only things that can be outside when they arrive.

Loved your post!

Oh I am really addicted to Craigslist. I am checking it every day, multiple times a day--I'm also going to stop by my local thrift store for the first time today. :)

Hi, Holly! This is a topic that's been coming up a lot lately for me. I've always been scared to buy anything on Craigslist for some reason. But everyone keeps finding the best stuff on it. Like you! So I may need to rethink the whole idea.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and have a great weekend!

Hi -- and how funny -- I did a Craigslist post today, too. Great minds must work alike. :-)

Love your Craigslist bargains -- I am a dedicated addict, and sadly find way more than I can ever possibly use. But it's such fun to look!

Up until yesterday, I thought Craigslist was only in the states and then I saw something on the news about it being in Canada. I will have to start checking it out. We also have a site here called kijiji which is the same idea and we've used it to buy/sell a number of things.

You know, I've never shopped on there! Now you've got me curious and I'll have to!

i definitely craigslist. it's one of my favorite hobbies! my coffee table, work table, and bookshelves are from cl. i generally don't browse furniture because my apartment's so small, but i love the free, art, and household sections.

the only things i've sold on craigslist have been books, so i have them meet me at a coffeeshop or 7/11 rather than my place.

Holly, Thanks so much for the heads up on craigslist! It's nice to hear good things from someone who has gotten good deals. I have never tried it and believe me, if I want to get a lot of the things I want sooner rather than later, that is the place I need to go.

I love the window and covet that china cabinet!! Thanks so much!!

I had to pick myself up off the floor after reading that you only paid $35 for your china cabinet. That's amazing! It's so beautiful! You got some great deals! Craigslist isn't very popular here. We have Kijiji. It's the same sort of deal...but probably about as popular as Craigslist is in the States. I'm totally addicted to it!

Great finds!!! How'd you get such great deals?

You can find anything on Craigslist! Where else can a person sell something they no longer want? It really is a service for the sellers and buyers.
