Taking a Breather

I have had so much fun writing this blog for the last 18 months!  Really, I can hardly believe I had that much to say, and that so many people cared to read it.  I appreciate each and every one of my followers, those who read and comment regularly,  and even the lurkers!

But I’ve got to tell you something…for a while I’ve been kind of struggling to come up with material.  It’s not coming to me right now as easily as it was, and lately, I’m not having too much fun.  I feel totally self-imposed pressure every evening to think up a good post for the next day, but I’m not coming up with anything.

I realize that just last week I was asking for feedback on the idea of a weekly linky party, and the response was favorable.  But again, I have a confession.  I was trying to recharge my blog mojo, and unfortunately I’m just not feeling it.  Right now, I don’t really want to do a party!  Maybe in a couple weeks I will; I don’t know.

So, right now, I’m going to take a step back.  I’ll probably be posting less often, because I’m not going to put pressure on myself to post.  If I’ve got something to say, I will.  If I don’t, I won’t force it.  I’ve had this post (partially) written for a  couple  weeks, and have put off posting it, but nothing has changed.  This just feel right for now.

I may have just written my blog’s death warrant, but I hope not.  I hope you’ll still check in when you see I’ve got a new post up.  Thanks for understanding!

I don't think your blog will walk the plank. You have great things to say. Take some time to regroup. I'll look forward to seeing you when you come back. Enjoy your "spring break"!

Do what you want and need. I know I have weeks where things flow and others it feels like nothing flows. I'll be waiting for when the inspiration hits. Till then, enjoy a break!

Take care of yourself! I know how it feels to be burned out, and sometimes a break is exactly what we need.

I struggle to even sit down these days and pull together a post so I get it.
Take Care.

I think you were smart to let the post sit for awhile before coming back to make a decision. I'm sad that we won't "see" you as often, but if you aren't enjoying posting, then there's no reason to do it until you feel ready again. :) Hugs to you!!!

I just starting following you and have enjoyed your posts. I will definitely be checking back. Sometimes breaks are good and it rejuvenates the soul. I too find it hard at times finding material and wonder what am I suppose to write about? How do people get followers? I guess we need to remember we need to write from the heart and what is going on in our life and not what we think people want to see and read about. Good luck! :)

You'll still be on my blogroll, no matter if you post once a month or 7 times a week. :) See ya when you get some major inspiration hitting!

I totally get it. I've been planning even just a 'week' off but have I done it yet??? No. Good for you on doing what you need to.

I feel ya girl. I've been feeling the pressure to come up with a couple of projects a week to keep up. I've had sick kids (3 with the flu) and trying to do projecs with them home is close to impossible - not to mention I need to concentrate on holding them anc keeeping up with laundry and stuff. It's ironic that trying to work on my house is keeping me from cleaning my house. Anyway, we understand and will always be here waiting to hear from ya when you're ready.

I think it's a good idea to step back when it gets to the point where blogging is more of a chore than a joy. I did it with my kitchen blog - I was finding that I was constantly trying to cook and bake new things, simply because I HAD to have something to post. But, with the pregnancy, my time in the kitchen has slowed down because I haven't been interested in cooking, looking at, or thinking about food. I think for me it was a pride issue, like I felt like I was giving up if I stopped posting, but now I feel so much relief! So, post when/if you have something to say and we'll all be here to read it ... but don't feel pressure to post when there's nothing to say!

It will be good for you, Holly. I have taken what, like 5 or 6 in the last year?! haha.

Forcing yourself to post (at least in my case) creates noticably forced posts that will never be your favorites.

Have fun. Enjoy your break. I will see you when you get back. ;)

Have a wonderful break...it's well deserved! I was going through the same thing with my blog over the past few weeks, and finally decided to take a 'vacation' from it this past week. Can't tell you how good it feels not being chained to my blog. Seriously though...enjoy yourself!

Definitely take a break, blogging wasn't meant to be another chore.

You were actually one of the first blogs I started reading when I started blogging...

Enjoy your time away. Sometimes we have to remember to live life so we have something to blog about. You're blog will always be one of my favorites. Recharge, regroup, live life - and don't worry. We'll be here when you come back whether it is in two weeks or two months. Love ya girl!

I think we all feel it sometimes. You just said it out loud. That's what blogging is about.

Taking a break may be just what you need--take time for yourself and your family. Go outside and play. Come back when you can--We'll miss you but will check in to see what's up.
Have a great weekend!

It happens with everything in life. I admitted on my 100th post this week that I had to give it up at Christmas to get thru the season. I don't have my scrapbook or card making mojo for quite a while that is why I'm blogging.

Blog Love!!

My best posts seem to come when I have taken a break from blogging and just lived life. Enjoy! You made my night with the Walmart link. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Hilarious!
