IKEA, Here I Come!

I can't believe that the summer is half over for us!  It's going to really pick up speed from here on out, too, because our schedule is pretty full right up until school starts.

At the end of the month we will be taking our biennial vacation to Lake Michigan, with a stop-over in Chicago, and that means...IKEA!

For me, IKEA is as much a part of the vacation as the beach.  We usually spend anywhere from three to six hours there, and sometimes go more than once.  It's big, it's fun, it's cheap, and I love it!

I know that many of you live near IKEA and can go whenever you want.  I was thinking that I'd ask all of you about your favorite IKEA purchases, the little things that regulars know about and star-struck amateurs like me might pass by.  Then I decided that a linky party would be fun, so...

This Thursday I will host an IKEA party, for you to share your favorite IKEA purchases around your house, any tips you may have for newbies, the things that are always on your shopping list when you hit the store, or basically anything having to do with IKEA, whether you live near one or not.

I hope you will join me!

Oh how fun!!! I've never been to an IKEA store before! Just visited one online and did some fun "window shopping". Haven't tried shopping with them yet. Are the products as good in person as they look on-line? Your trip to Chicago sounds like so much fun and a great chance to get away with your family!

I live right by one of the Chicago locations. The one thing that always amazes me about that place is that it's ALWAYS busy. I was there on a random Thursday before it even opened and there were people waiting outside! Crazy!

Half over already?? Are you sure? Didn't it just start? I love Ikea - there is one about 20 minutes from me so I can go whenever I want!

I love IKEA, but it is over and hour away so I don't get to go very often. When I do go I can spend hours there.

Perfect timing!!! My friend and I are driving over to Ohio THIS Saturday to visit an Ikea store!!! I've been to a couple of them, but we don't have one here in Indy. So, we're driving an hour and half just to shop. :)

I can't wait to hear what other readers have to say. I've never been to Ikea, but we're planning our first trip this weekend. So excited!

I want to go to IKEA! I've never been. My BIL told me they have restaurants in his IKEA too. Is that for all of them? I mean, shopping, eating, saving money all under one roof? Sounds like a vacation to me!! Hope y'all have a great time!

I had to laugh when you said that IKEA is as much a part of vacation as the beach. My husband just plays along, but I plan just about every vacation that we take around nearby IKEAS. ;)

I love IKEA, but I am a "newbie" as you called it :) Our nearest IKEA is about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away and I have yet to make the hike! You'd think I would have by now:( Anywho, I can't wait to hear about all the great finds from others on Thursday as well as your buys when you come back form your vaca.

We usually go up there in May, but we missed it this year. I am hoping in early August...(wishful thinking?)

Too funny! We have one but it is all the way across town so we probably only go twice a year. Sometimes we buy things we don't need, need or nothing at all. It is just fun to look around. Even my boys enjoy it from time to time. I would have to say my fave purchase from Ikea would be step stool we purchased there 9 years ago. I use it in my sewing room now and so we just purchased another one for the kitchen since the boys are old enough now to pop their own popcorn. Hope you have a great vaca!
